Takada Sekai-kan (Movie Theater)
In 1911,Takada-za Playhouse opened at Honcho 6-chome, Takada City. After several years, it changed to a movie theater. It tells us the 100 years history of movies and has been the oldest movie theater in Japan that is still running.
In the retro and nostalgic space, you can see the hall whose ceiling is made of wooden framework that you can hardly see except in important cultural properties and the projection room which remains as it was. Though film projectors are disappearing everywhere in japan because of the shift of showing from film shooting to digital photographing, film screening parties are held several times a year in order to inherit film screening as the modern technological heritage.Furthermore, we held screening lectures and show you the projection room in order to inherit screening technology.
It is registered as the country's registered tangible cultural property and the heritage of Industrial Modernization. It is also the valuable cultural heritage of movie in Japan which attracts attention of the persons of movies.
