Ryujin Onsen
The spring which gushes forth from the heart of the Kishu Mountains is one of Japan’s three great springs for beautiful women.
An Onsen Village surrounded by the Kii Mountains. The Hidakagawa River which snakes its way like a dragon through Wakayama Prefecture on the west side of the Kii Peninsula, flows from the Kii Mountains in the center of the peninsula. Ryujin Onsen can be found in a mountain village in the upper reaches of the Hidakagawa River near the border with Nara Prefecture. This is located in the center of the Koya-Ryujin Quasi-National Park, where you can fully experience nature in the Kishu Mountains.
Also, to the north is Mt. Koya and Mt. Gomadan, while to the south-east is Kumano’s Dorobaccho, and Nachi Falls etc. Its location is also connected to the Kumanokodo road which runs through areas of spiritual significance.
Ryujin Onsen is considered one of Japan’s three great onsen for beautiful women, alongside Gunma Prefecture’s Kawanaka Onsen and Shimane Prefecture’s Yunokawa Onsen. People come from all over Japan hoping to try out this famous onsen.
Five onsen, namely Ryujin Onsen, Komatagawa Onsen, Nyunogawa Onsen, Kamanosaki Onsen, and Yanagise Onsen, are collectively known as the Ryujin Onsen Village.
