A community-based onsen town distinctive of Shinshu/Nagano

Nagano prefecture boasts 231 onsen, second most in the country after Hokkaido. Nozawa Onsen is one of these onsen, and is located approx. 25 minutes by direct bus “Nozawa Onsen Liner” from Hokuriku Shinkansen Iiyama Station. It boasts as many as 30 onsen, including the famous onsen known as Ogama. The 13 unique public baths known as “Sotoyu” (outdoor spa) are very popular. Going for a tour around the onsen to find the one you like is one of the simple pleasures of Nozawa Onsen.
This region is also famous as one of Japan’s leading ski areas. We recommend coming in winter, and exploring the variety of onsen after you’ve enjoyed the slopes.
