Types of accommodation
Guests can consider hotels, guesthouses, Airbnb, homestays, etc. when traveling the world, but when traveling in Japan, there are also Japanese options such as "Inn" and "Minshuku" and economical choices such as "Business hotel" and "capsule hotel" that eliminate all unnecessary things.
First of all, roughly arranging according to class level, you can divide accommodations into hotels, inns> business hotels, Minshuku> capsule hotels.
There are many facilities with history and hospitality that surpass 5-star hotels in the inn. In Japan where there are few Japanese 5-star hotels, it may be said that staying at such a luxury inn is the highest peak. However, like the hotel, there are also facilities of one star to three star level among inns, and some of these are run as family businesses.
In particular, those managed only by families, and the facilities where their families live together in the same facility are called "inn" in Japan. Although it is not a so-called Minpaku (private lodging), there are similarities to it, and there is a distinctive nature, such as having in-house contact with the family. For example, in a sightseeing spot where the ocean is close, there are also inns where fishermen operate, so you may be able to enjoy cuisine making the most of the goodness of the material. For the simplicity of the building, in general, there are many people who can eat delicious food in spite of the cost of accommodation, and some Japanese guests who are gourmets choose this type of lodging out of other accommodations. There are also family-run accommodation facilities called "Western style inn," also called "pension," centered on highlands and ski resorts such as Kiyosato, Yatsugatake, and Nasu.
Next, regarding the business hotel, it will be close if you can imagine a 2- or 3-star hotel. The front service, etc. are at the minimum level, and the closer to the city center, the more surprisingly narrow the room.
The capsule hotel is a service that rents a space for adults to only lie down, as you can imagine from the naming of hotels like capsules. Strictly it is not an inn, and there is no lock on the private space. It may be easy to imagine saying "unmoving sleeping car." This capsule hotel was once made for male businessmen who work until late at night, but in recent years there are many types, and there are many large types of baths, many of which have become popular among women.
